MHANY Management Inc, New York Communities for Change and Nassau County Reach Monumental Settlement to End 14 Years of Litigation with Agreement to Foster Affordable Housing and Sweeping Policy Changes for Nassau County

On March 15, a press conference was held on the steps of the Nassau County Executive Building in Mineola to announce a settlement that will result in the payment of over $5 million to the Plaintiffs — MHANY Management Inc. and New York Communities for Change (NYCC) — for the purpose of building affordable housing in Nassau County.

Those terms not only provide for the payment of over $5 million by the county for the construction of affordable housing, but also speak to the forward-thinking commitment of Nassau County to be a leader in providing affordable housing to all persons in the county without discrimination.

Representatives from MHANY Management and NYCC were joined by their attorneys — Fred Brewington of The Law Offices of Frederick K. Brewington, Stanley J. Brown and Chava Brandriss of Hogan Lovells US LLP, and Thomas Silverstein of Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law.
