Federal Court Sanctions County of Nassau in False Arrest Case

Plaintiff Michael Smith filed a civil rights action against Defendants County of Nassau, Anna Gaetano, Harry Terezakis, Zurich Associates, LTD., Police Officer Timothy Slevin and other officers after Mr. Smith was wrongfully arrested for criminal trespass for residing at a residence with his fiancée, pursuant to a scam in which Michael Smith and his fiancée were victims.

Man Beaten by Suffolk County Sheriffs Wins Civil Rights Verdict

On Monday, March 25, 2012, a jury of seven awarded Perrim Anderson, 38, of Hempstead, New York a monetary award of $65,000, finding that Deputy Sheriff Vincent Aparicio beat Mr. Anderson and violated his constitutional rights. The case followed an incident in May 2008 while Mr. Anderson was detained in Suffolk District Court in Central Islip.

Ruling in the "Long Beach Five" Case

In November 2010, five Long Beach men were falsely accused by Long Beach Police of and arrested for attempted assault in the third degree, resisting arrest, obstructing governmental administration in the second degree and riot for an incident that occurred on that night.
