Hempstead School Superintendent Dr. Shimon Waronker, One Year After Being Summarily Suspended, Still Is Without A Hearing or A Hearing Officer
In Seven-And-A-Half Months, Hempstead School Board Has Spent Over $800,000 On Just One Law Firm, But Still Fails to Have A Contract with Its Teachers
On January 9, 2019, Dr. Shimon Waronker, who was suspended last year from his job as Hempstead School superintendent and still has not had a hearing on the bogus charges brought against him by the school board and its attorney, addressed the clear abuses made by the Hempstead School Board during a press conference at the Law Offices of Frederick K. Brewington.
Among those abuses were failing to properly vet the hearing officer they proposed, failing to hire the hearing officer and failing to check the rate of compensation before proposing the hearing officer. Yet, in a 7½-month period, the board has taken money from teachers’ salaries to help pay their lawyers in the amount of $817,852.79. While the teachers and other educational professionals have gone without a contract or monetary raises for years, the board has continued to make decisions which are contrary to the good and educational needs of the children of Hempstead.
At the press conference, details were revealed about actual uses of money by the board that raise serious questions about where their allegiances and priorities lie. Dr. Waronker announced new developments in the defense of the false charges against him and the prosecution of his civil rights lawsuit against the school district. In addition, facts were detailed about members of the Board of Education who have supported and been in collusion with a known felon sex offender, whom they have allowed to come onto school property and who, in fact, ran some of their campaigns. For this, they were called upon to resign!
